Some Braw Scottish Words – B

Here Be the next in a series of occasional posts on Scots or dialect words commonly used in Scotland.

Belter: excellent, standout
Ben: lots of Scots meanings for this from a mountain e.g Ben Lomond, a  room, or as a verb; into, e.g. “I’m goin ben the room.”
Blether: talk, particularly chat or gossip
Bothy: a wee cottage or shelter
Braw: good, fine
Brock: a badger
